I was compensated for my time reviewing this product/service and writing this review.

I love grabbing a new game fresh off the printer. Hearing my kids excitement as they gather around for our next new adventure is priceless. As much I enjoy these free games, I have to be honest. Somedays it is nice to let someone else do the work. Sometimes, I need my children to be playing math games without a ton of input from me. Then somedays, I want to play a printable game, but also let them have a little time to continue math instruction in a fun, engaging way. And I have found a few ways to do this.

I recently discovered Homeschool Buyers Co-op! It is such a wonderful place to get homeschool curriculum or my favorite…. supplemental math games.

It is such a genius idea. Homeschool Buyers Co-op works with homeschool curriculum publishers to get discounts. Then they put out an offer to their members that let families know that if they purchase before the end of the month they will get 20% off. The fun part though is……..let’s say 20 member sign up, you may end up with 30% off, and if 50 members sign up a 40% discount is given.

It is an incredible way to save money and get a curriculum you want or to supplement what your child is doing at school.

There are so many wonderful choices that are fun and can develop a love of learning in your child.

Supplemental Math Games

I absolutely love the math curriculum we use. It is incredible in developing math sense and fraction sense in my little guys. With that said, I still do a lot of supplementing. It may be through games I create or online games….because let’s face it our kids do love being on the computer.

As I explored all that Homeschool Buyers Co-Op has to offer, my attention was drawn toward all that could be used to supplement my math curriculum….especially the games they have to offer.

Here are a few of my favorites…..

Online Math Instruction Through Games

If you have read almost any of my post, you know what is important to me! Developing number sense by not just handing a child a worksheet and having them solve problems over and over using a formula.

I can get behind any program that also shares that mentality and ST Math does.

ST Math® is a visual instructional program that builds a deep conceptual understanding of math through rigorous learning and creative problem solving to deeply engage, motivate, and challenge Pre-K-8 students toward higher achievement. Learn more at stmath.com.

ST Math Homeschool brings the creativity, rigor and fun of ST Math to homeschool. Students easily get wrapped up in key learning moments when they are deeply engaged and challenged at just the right level. The power of ST Math:

  • Deep Conceptual Understanding: ST Math starts by teaching the foundational concepts visually, then connects the ideas to the symbols and language. With visual learning, students are better equipped to tackle unfamiliar math problems, recognize patterns, and build conceptual understanding. Without language barriers, the problem is accessible to all students, regardless of skill level or language background.

Super Math World Online Game

My boys love to battle things out! I’ve witnessed numerous sword fights and fierce football battles. They crave to conquer, and this online game taps into that desire. It also allows children to use creativity to find their way to the next level.

Yes, the game is fun and engages our kiddos, but what are they learning??? These games designed for 2nd grade through 8th-grade students focus on the following…

  • Multiplication
  • Fractions
  • Pre – Algebra
  • Integers
  • Number Lines

It is always crazy when you find something from your childhood that is still around. I’m almost 40, and I’m couldn’t believe that you can STILL have the option of getting Highlights in the mail.

Geared for children ages 7-12, Mathmania books cover a wide range of math-related activities with colorful illustrations, engaging themes and a silly sense of humor to encourage kids to enjoy playing with numbers.

The puzzles reinforce your child’s ability to recognize patterns, shapes and sequences, apply logic, make estimates, create graphs, use fractions and gain practical experience with money, time and measurements.

Math Software

Math practice that’s FUN??? Judging from member comments and numerous testimonials on the Barnum Software website, The Quarter Mile Math is just that — fun math practice software that kids really love to use.

Perhaps the key to that is the innovative format where kids race against themselves (the company calls it “self-competitive”). Or perhaps it’s because the software is easy to use. Or perhaps it’s because the software can detect the smallest improvements and give positive reinforcement. Whatever it is, it has been picked up by all 1,100 Sylvan Learning Centers. And that says something….doesn’t it!!!

I’m so excited about this new discovery, and I hope you find exactly what you need…..especially if it is some supplemental math games!
