Get in some ending blends practice with this ending blends activity. The children will listen and spell words with l blends like ld, lf, lp, lt, and lk, and read words to choose the correct picture.
My twins are working through the All About Reading curriculum. One can pretty much do what is in the book and will master it. My other needs a little more help, and a lot of extensions. She also loves Boom Cards so I figured we would do some ending blends activity using Boom cards. It will give her some more practice, and it is something she can do independently.
Ending Blends Activities:
There are two different activities I have created for my twins to do.
Listen And Spell:
My little girl tends to be able to spell words before she can read them. So for us, this is the first ending blends activity we started with. It allows her to listen to the sounds of each letter, work on the “l blends” that we have been practicing, and seeing the word put together.
These boom cards say the word, and my kiddos get to move the letters to spell the word.
When they think they are done, the hit check. And if they have any wrong the letters go back to the original spot and they get to try again.
Though this does not replace our time of spelling with magnetic letters, she sure enjoys it a lot more and can do it independently.
Read and Choose:
We now move into reading words. This is the hard part for my little girl, and once again doing it on Boom Cards adds a little bit of fun to something she struggles with.
These cards simply have one word written in large letters, and then have three pictures. Our little ones read the words, click on the picture that matches the word, and then clicks check. If they got it right, they hear a sweet ding and get to move to the next slide. If they pick the wrong pick, they get to try again.
I hope your beginning readers enjoy these as much as mine have.
You’ve Got This,
Rachel
