Get your kids multiplying by multiples of 10 with this no-prep activity. Boom cards are an easy way to quickly practice mental math especially concepts like multiplying by multiples of 10. Your kids will love it, mine do!!!
My third-grade son is in the midst of a multiplication unit. And right now our focus is on multiplying numbers by 10’s and 100’s. I wanted him to have a little extra practice, and since he LOVES Boom Cards, I whipped up this activity for him.
Before Using Boom Cards:
As always, I do not suggest just jumping in and getting children to memorize facts.
There is a time and place for this, but only after children have explored multiplying by multiples of 10 with manipulatives.
So before you jump into this digital activity, I suggest having kids work out some of these problems with base ten blocks or drawings.
If you are not sure how to do this, Math Coach’s Corner has some great ideas.
Multiplying by Multiples of 10 and 100:
Once your kiddos have gotten to experience what multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100 looks like, it is time for some practice.
And here is what it looks like!
So that’s it. It is that simple to get in a little extra practice. And you don’t have to check it or prep it. And most important, your children will love this break from pencil and paperwork.
I hope they enjoy it as much as mine do.
