3 Ways for Reducing Fractions to Lowest Terms
We have discussed 3 different types of fractions in these reducing fractions to lowest terms worksheets. You can also show fractions on a number line for better understanding.
Reducing Fractions to Lowest Terms Worksheets: Proper Fractions
While reducing the proper fractions to the lowest terms of fractions, you need to divide both the numbers by their common greater factor.
Suppose you have a fraction of 9/24.
The factors of numerators are 1,3,9. And the factors of the denominators are 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,24.
So, the common greater factor between the two numbers is 3.
Now, divide the numerator and denominator by 3. Then we will get the fraction ⅜. So, our answer will be ⅜.

Simplifying Improper Fractions to Lowest Terms Worksheets
Improper fractions are the fractions where the numerator is greater than the denominator. But the simplifying procedure is the same as before. You need to find out the greater common factors for both the numerator and the denominators.
Take an example of an improper fraction such as 18/8.
The factors of the numerators are 1,2,3,6,9 and 18
The factors of the denominators are 1, 2, 4, and 8.
So, the greater common factor is 2.
Now, divide both the numbers by two. You will get 9/4.
This is the simplest form of the given improper fractions.
