9 Times Tables
These fun multiplication puzzles are a wonderful way to review multiplication facts for your 8 times tables. And, if you’re looking for more than just 9 times table worksheets, scroll to the bottom to see numbers 5-9.
Many of you know that I do a lot of IEP stuff too, so I am constantly assisting kids who really struggle with working memory skills and other executive functions. But, learning your 9x tables is all memorization.
I have been unable to find a teaching strategy that works well for memory skills except for repetition and a format that connects with the child.
So, that’s why I’m sharing these 9 times tables worksheets, puzzles and charts. It’s a few more activities you can add to your arsenal. They’re great for seat work, reinforcing skills at home (or even in the car!) or for math centers.
9 Times Tables Multiplication Puzzles
I don’t know about your kiddos, but my oldest can skip count like a pro. But when it comes time to solve a multiplication problem he can’t remember it without skip counting. This year we will be doing a lot of work on multi-digit multiplication and he needs to know his facts without skip counting.
We have been playing a lot of games, but today I thought these simple puzzles would be a little change and a fun way to review.
9 Times Tables Worksheets
Like most puzzles, these multiplication puzzles do require a little prep-work.
But once they are done, they can be used over and over again.
- First, print off the puzzles using card stock paper.
- Next, cut them out and laminate if desired!
- Finally, bring in your third-grade student that needs a little extra multiplication practice, and let the fun begin.
How We Used these 9 Times Table Printables
To begin, I just handed my third grader a stack of puzzles and let him go for it. But as I watched, I saw he was reverting back to his skip counting to solve the problems.
Seeing that, I knew a challenge was in order.
Without him being aware, I set my cell phone timer to see how long it took him to complete all the puzzles. When he completed all of them, I showed him how long it took him. Being the competitive guy he is, he quickly determined to do it quicker.
All week I timed him, and I’m happy to say that by the end of the week his time had greatly improved….as well as the need to skip count to find the answer!
Keep in mind of course, not every student has a competitive nature and may get frustrated. But, teachers are the most resourceful people I know–you’ll come up with great activities for these times table worksheets.
I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.
5-9 Times Tables and Charts
If you are looking for the same activities and printables for other numbers, I have them. These actually used to be all together, but many teachers contacted me and said they’d prefer if I separated out the multiplication puzzles, times table worksheets and charts by numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. So, I did!
After all, this website is here to help make teachers’ work easier.
