# 56 Clip Cards to Practice Rounding To The Nearest Hundred Using A Hundreds Chart

Need a rounding to the nearest hundred worksheet? These clip cards are a fun alternative to a worksheet and help children practice rounding while using a hundred chart. The combination of the hundreds chart and clip cards make this activity perfect for a child struggling with rounding.

Last week, I jumped into the topic of rounding. We focused on rounding to the nearest 10, and today we are focusing on how to round to the nearest 100.

And these clip cards help children to practice rounding and they get to do it using a hundreds chart.

## Prep- Work

All that you need to do to get ready to use these clip cards is a little cutting.

- First, print off the clip cards and hundreds chart.
- Next, cut out the clip cards.
- Now gather up some clothespins and you are ready to go.

## How to Use:

Children often struggle with understanding rounding, especially if they don’t understand place value. There are so many steps.

Find a certain place value. Then look at the number to the right. Now they have to decide whether to round up or keep it the same. What happens if there are nines involved?

Using a hundreds chart, is a great way to introduce this concept to children and help those who are struggling.

Here’s how it works!

The clip card is asking for 127 to be rounded to the nearest 100. All the kiddo has to do is find 120 on the hundreds chart. As you can see it is colored pink, so the answer is the dark pink number….100.

For this one, we are rounding 1,873 to the nearest hundred. Our first step is to find 1,870 on the hundreds chart. Since it is blue, we move up to the dark blue number. The answer is 1,900.

## Rounding to the Nearest Hunderd Worksheet

After your children have played with the clip cards, you can move onto a fun worksheet. The children can find all the answers using the hundreds chart, and they get to color in the answer or use a Do-A-Dot marker. It is a fun way to continue the rounding work, and you can even use it to get a grade if you need to.
