FREE Fraction Of A Number Activity with Read A Loud
Your kids will love this fraction of a number activity. First, read or listen to the story. Next, they get to try it out on google slides.
Teaching Fractions of a number is a perfect lead into multiplying fractions.
Prep-Work
Google slides really don’t have any prep-work. The only thing you will need to do is save the google drive so that your children can move the pictures around and type in the correct answer.
If you do not know how to do this, here is a quick tutorial.
Fractions Of a Number
This lesson starts with an adorable book called Jump, Kangaroo, Jump.
Obviously, the best choice is for you to read the book aloud to your children or students. It is so much better when you can ask questions and point out the fractions to your kiddos.
But if needed, here is a recording of the book read aloud.
Google Slides Time:
Now it is time to let the children try this out.
The google slides are just like the book. There are adorable animals that needed to be sorted into groups. As the children sort the animals, they are learning two important things about fractions.
- Fractions are equal groups!
- A denominator tells me how many equal groups I need.
At the end of the slides, there are a few problems that the children can solve without the aid of pictures. It is a great way to see if they can apply what they have learned.
This video explains how to use these slides. Get them here.
I hope you enjoy!
