There’s something fun about measuring. Whether it is measuring out the flour for cupcakes, figuring out how many of your feet the length of a room is, or just walking around playing with the tape measure (especially the one that you pull out and then neatly retracts)….measuring is fun!
It is also one of those skills we use all the time. You know for really important stuff like will this new piece of furniture fit in my house????
With all joking aside, it is a skill that our children need practice with….both with rulers and other units. And as part of our Seven Day Of Christmas here is a measuring and line graph activity that uses Gum Drops as the unit.
Prep – Work for Line Graph Activity
First, print off the picture cards on card stock paper, cut out, and laminate.
Next, print off the graph and question sheet on regular paper.
Finally, gather up the Gum Drops, rulers, and pencils.

How to Use
To begin, have children choose a picture and then line up as many Gum drops as they can next to the picture without going over.
Now they get to count how many Gum drops they used.
Next, they find the name of the picture on the graph and record their data.
They will continue these steps until they have measured all of the pictures.
Once all the pictures are measured, the children use a ruler to create a line graph.
Finally, they answer questions about the line graph they created.
Enjoy measuring Christmas objects!!
