Math Facts Practice

Get in math facts practice with these no-prep games. Children can practice addition and subtraction facts to 20 and multiplication and division facts.

My oldest is a fantastic math student. He consistently surprises me with his mathematical understanding and how quickly he catches on to new concepts.

But he has one chink in his armor. Knowing his math facts! He can skip count with the best of them but struggles to rapidly answer math fact questions. He can get to the answer in his own time, but I would love to see him be able to spout them off as needed.

And I realize that this means I need to be more intentional and make sure that every day he is doing some sort of math fact practice.

And since it is December, I have some simple, no-prep Christmas activities to help all my children work on these facts for the rest of the month.

Math Fact Practice Games

Oh, did I mention that these don’t require prep!

All you need to do is print and grab a few supplies.

  1. First, look through the pages and choose what facts you want your child to work on. Print off one page per player on card stock paper.
  2. Next, you will need bingo markers and paper clips (or spinners) for the addition, subtraction, and multiplication games. You will need game pieces instead of paper clips for the division game.
  3. Now you are ready to play!

Ways to Practice Math Facts

The games are simple and easy to play. And at this point of the year, that is about all I can handle. (I’m not sure what type of math teacher that makes me…definitely a tired one).

You can practice addition math facts, subtraction math facts, division math facts, and multiplication math facts using these fun holiday maths facts practice worksheets.

Addition Math Facts Practice

The addition, subtraction, and multiplication game are all played the same way. Here is how to play the addition fact practice game.

  1. First, they place the paper clips on the spinners and spin them. (If you have a child that struggles with this fine motor skill, you can use a fidget spinner or get premade spinners off of Amazon.
  2. Next, the children do whatever operation is written at the top of the page.
  3. Finally, they cover up the answer on the BINGO part of the game board. The first person to get five in a row wins.

In this example, the child spun a 4 and a 5. They would then add a 4 + 5 which equals nine and then cover up the nine on the board.

Subtraction Math Facts Practice

This is a subtraction game board. And you will need to be clear on the directions with this one. Our little ones need to make sure they are using the number to spin from the top spinner as the minuend (the first number in a subtraction problem).

In this example, the child landed on a 13 and a 9. So the subtraction problem is 13 – 9. The answer is four, so they cover up the four.

Division Math Facts Practice

The division math facts practice is a little different. Instead of a spinner, the children move around a game board. They solve the problem they land on and then cover up the answer. It is that simple!
